Mother*Christina (Cirsty) McFADYEN1 b. c 1814, d. 1894
Jessie McINNES was born in Tobermory, Argyllshire, circa 1854. As Jessie's birth does not appear in post-1855 Civil Registers, a birth in 1854 is the most likely, although she must have consistently mis-stated her age as 3 years less than reality in later documents.1
The siblings Charles, James and Jessie were listed in the 1861 census in Tobermory, Argyllshire, with their parents, Angus McINNES and Christina (Cirsty) McFADYEN.1

Jessie married James McLEAN on 14 January 1881 at 145 Holm St in Blythswood, Glasgow, Lanarkshire. He was an engine-keeper, a widower and she was a bathmaid, both working at the Hydropathic Baths in Row; she claimed to be only 24, but must have been at least 27.3

She was listed in the 1881 census as Head of Family at the Hydropathic Porter Lodge in Shandon, Dunbartonshire; the Hydropathic Baths there were formerly West Shandon House, built for Robert Napier in the 1840s and converted to baths in 1880 after his death.4

She was listed in the 1891 census as Head of Family at 83 Belville St in Greenock, Renfrewshire; he was now a ship caulker. Jessie's sons Angus and Donald, having now taken the McLEAN name, were also in the household, as was James's son John by his first marriage and their own children James, Christina, Margaret and Charles. The house had two rooms with windows and both Jessie and Angus claimed to be fluent in Gaelic and English.5

She was the informant of Christina (Cirsty) McFADYEN's death at Churchyard St in Tobermory, Argyllshire, on 4 February 1894.6

She was the informant of Angus McINNES's death at Churchyard St in Tobermory, Argyllshire, on 10 March 1894.7

She was listed in the 1901 census as Head of Family at 29 Rue End St in Greenock, Renfrewshire; he was now a boilermaker and this house had four rooms with windows.8

She was listed in the 1911 census as Head of Family at 63 Rue End St in Greenock, Renfrewshire; he was now a boilermaker.9

She was widowed on the death of her husband James on 13 December 1928.10
