Stanley Ernest ROWE was born in Richmond-upon-Thames, Surrey, on 12 November 1899.4,3
He served as a Gentleman Cadet at the Royal Military Academy before being promoted to 2nd Lieutenant, Royal Regmt of Artillery (RGA) (18 November 1917).5

Stanley's marriage to Mignonette Kathleen Jean Duff STEVENS, daughter of Cecil Robert STEVENS MD, FRCS and Catherine DUFF, was registered between January 1923 and March 1923 in St George Hanover Square, London, Middlesex.1,2

Stanley's career in the British Army and the family's frequent travels are indicative of his postings abroad. As a result, most of the children are believed to have been born overseas.6

Stanley and his wife Mignonette returned to England on the Majola (arrived London 23 April 1925) which had taken them from Gibraltar to Plymouth (although they gave their UK address as 34 Cheyne Ct, Chelsea) accompanied by their son Stanley.7

She was listed in the 1871 census at 20 Augusta Rd in Ramsgate, Kent, with her husband Henry; he was living on 'income derived from public funds' - presumably investments. Their children Elizabeth, Ellen, Selina, Henry, Alfred and Joseph were listed as living with them.7

She was widowed at age 50 on the death of her husband Henry on 26 January 1881.1,8,9

She was appointed executrix of Henry Spencer FORSAITH's estate in Canterbury, Kent, on 30 March 1881, it being valued at less than £1500.9

She was listed in the 1881 census as Head of Family at Vale Square Vale Villa in Ramsgate, Kent; she is living on 'dividends and rents'. Her children Ellen, Selina and Alfred were listed as living with her.4

She was listed in the 1891 census as Head of Family at 79 Manor Rd, Deptford St Paul in Deptford, London, Middlesex; living on living on her own means. Her children Elizabeth, Ellen, Selina, Henry and Alfred were listed as living with her.10

She was listed in the 1901 census as Head of Family in Eltham, London, Middlesex. Her children Henry and Alfred were listed as living with her.11

Elizabeth died on 18 January 1902 at 'Shandon', New Eltham in Lewisham, Kent, at age 71.1,12,13,14
