John Stewart was born in Fortingall, Perthshire, circa 1793. He was the son of Duncan Stewart and Janet Stewart.1

He married Janet Cameron in Lassintullich, Fortingall, Perthshire, on 25 May 1828.2

He was listed in the 1841 census in Tullochcrosk, Fortingall, Perthshire, with his wife Janet; they were both listed as farmers. Their children Duncan, Elizabeth, John and Jean were listed with them.3

He was widowed on the death of his wife Janet before 1851.

He was listed in the 1851 census as Head of Family in Tullochcrosk, Fortingall, Perthshire; he was a farmer of 20 acres. His children Duncan, Elizabeth, Margaret and Jean were listed as living with him.4

He was listed in the 1861 census as Head of Family at Tullochcrosk in Kinloch Rannoch, Perthshire; he was now farming 30 acres and employing two men and two women. The household included a ploughman, a dairymaid and a servant as well as his grandson Angus. His children Duncan and Jean were listed as living with him.5

John died on 17 January 1867 at Crossmount Farm in Kinloch Rannoch, Perthshire, of old age.1

John Stewart was born in Fortingall, Perthshire, circa 1810.2

He married Jean (Jane) McGregor, daughter of Alexander McGregor and Margaret McFarlane, in Dull, Perthshire, on 2 March 1839.3,1,4

He was listed in the 1851 census as Head of Family at West Tempar in Fortingall, Perthshire, with his wife Jean; he was a farmer of 20 acres. The household included their five children and Jean's niece Christian Fergusson, who was the household's servant.2

He was listed in the 1861 census as Head of Family in Kinloch Rannoch, Perthshire, with his wife Jean; he was listed as an agricultural labourer and the household included their six children plus a boarder, also named Jane STEWART.5

He was listed in the 1871 census as Head of Family in Gairloch Northern, Ross and Cromarty, with his wife Jean; he was now farming 1050 acres (of which only 50 was classed as arable). The household included five of their children and a servant.6

John died on 6 May 1874 at 'Drumchork' in Gairloch, Ross.7

John died in 1941 in New Zealand.5

Margaret was named executrix and beneficiary in the will of Margaret Robertson, her mother, dated 17 April 1899 at District Court of Otago Goldfields in Lawrence, Otago; she was to inherit 2 freehold sections of land in Lawrence along with their buildings, plus the household furniture, plate, linen, glass, china, jewellry, clothes and chattels, a legacy of £1500, and an equal share (with her brothers) of the remainder of the estate.4

Margaret Kate Stewart and Peter Robertson Stewart were appointed executors of Margaret Robertson's estate at District Court of Otago Goldfields in Lawrence, Otago, on 3 June 1899.4

She married James Bevin at Lawrence Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, Otago, on 11 August 1899.5,6,7,8

She was widowed on the death of her husband James in 1921.9

Peter died in 1931 in New Zealand.9

William Stewart was born in Blair Atholl, Perthshire, circa June 1832.1 and was baptised on 12 August 1832.1

He married Christian Fergusson, daughter of John Fergusson and Christy McGregor, in Middlebridge, Blair Atholl, Perthshire, on 8 June 1860. He stated he was a shepherd, and his father was a farm labourer, while she was a domestic servant, and it appears that she took four years off her age.2
