Jessie Cameron Stewart was born in Gabriels, Otago, on 10 April 1868.¹

She was listed on the roll as a student at Lawrence, Otago, from 1876 to 1884.²

Jessie died on 24 May 1884 in Lawrence, Otago, at age 16.^3,4 She was buried on 27 May 1884 at the Lawrence Cemetery in Lawrence.^5,3

John Stewart was born in Fortingall, Perthshire, circa 1793. He was the son of Duncan Stewart and Janet Stewart.¹

He married Janet Cameron in Lassintullich, Fortingall, Perthshire, on 25 May 1828.²

He was listed in the 1841 census in Tullochcrosk, Fortingall, Perthshire, with his wife Janet; they were both listed as farmers. Their children Duncan, Elizabeth, John and Jean were listed with them.³

He was widowed on the death of his wife Janet before 1851.

He was listed in the 1851 census as Head of Family in Tullochcrosk, Fortingall, Perthshire; he was a farmer of 20 acres. His children Duncan, Elizabeth, Margaret and Jean were listed as living with him.⁴

He was listed in the 1861 census as Head of Family at Tullochcrosk in Kinloch Rannoch, Perthshire; he was now farming 30 acres and employing two men and two women. The household included a ploughman, a dairymaid and a servant as well as his grandson Angus. His children Duncan and Jean were listed as living with him.⁵

John died on 17 January 1867 at Crossmount Farm in Kinloch Rannoch, Perthshire, of old age.¹

He was listed in the 1861 census as Head of Family in Kinloch Rannoch, Perthshire, with his wife Jean; he was listed as an agricultural labourer and the household included their six children plus a boarder, also named Jane STEWART.⁵

He was listed in the 1871 census as Head of Family in Gairloch Northern, Ross and Cromarty, with his wife Jean; he was now farming 1050 acres (of which only 50 was classed as arable). The household included five of their children and a servant.⁶

John died on 6 May 1874 at 'Drumchork' in Gairloch, Ross.⁷

He was named as a beneficiary of the will of Margaret Robertson, his mother, dated 17 April 1899 at District Court of Otago Goldfields in Lawrence, Otago; he was to inherit an equal share (with his siblings) of the residue of the estate, after the disbursements to his sister Margaret, excepting that his share was to be adjusted to allow for his possible debts to his mother at the time of her death.⁴

John died in 1941 in New Zealand.⁵

Margaret Stewart was born in Tullochcrosk, Fortingall, Perthshire, on 12 January 1835.^1,2

Margaret Kate Stewart and Peter Robertson Stewart were appointed executors of Margaret Robertson's estate at District Court of Otago Goldfields in Lawrence, Otago, on 3 June 1899.⁴

She married James Bevin at Lawrence Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, Otago, on 11 August 1899.^5,6,7,8

She was widowed on the death of her husband James in 1921.⁹

He was named executor and beneficiary in the will of Margaret Robertson, his mother, dated 17 April 1899 at District Court of Otago Goldfields in Lawrence, Otago; he was to inherit an equal share (with his siblings) of the residue of the estate, after the disbursements to his sister Margaret.⁴

He was listed on the 2nd NZEF roll, with no dependant children, resident at Hokitika, Westland, NZ; but this may be another Peter Robertson Stewart, as the Auckland Cenotaph database records a draper, next of kin mother (Mrs JRB Stewart of Port Chalmers), embarking on the Ruapehu 14 March 1917.

Peter died in 1931 in New Zealand.⁹

William Stewart was born in Blair Atholl, Perthshire, circa June 1832.¹ and was baptised on 12 August 1832.¹

He married Christian Fergusson, daughter of John Fergusson and Christy McGregor, in Middlebridge, Blair Atholl, Perthshire, on 8 June 1860. He stated he was a shepherd, and his father was a farm labourer, while she was a domestic servant, and it appears that she took four years off her age.²
