Mary Anne Caroline TURNER1

Mary Anne Caroline TURNER was born on 16 November 1841 in Secrole, Bengal, the daughter of John (with the 51st Regiment, NI) and Pamela TURNER2,1 and was baptised on 15 April 1842 in Secrole Benares.1

She married Charles Cecil STEVENS KCSI, son of Charles Green STEVENS and Deborah Hannah BLOMFIELD, at St Paul's Cathedral in Calcutta, Bengal, on 16 December 1862.3,4

She was listed in the 1881 census as Head of Family at Broomhills in Honiton, Devon; she described herself as 'the wife of C C Stevens (ICS)' and the household included a governess, cook, housemaid and nurse. Her children Algernon, Nina, Arthur and Henry were listed as living with her.2

She was widowed at age 67 on the death of her husband Charles on 27 March 1909.5

Mary died on 1 April 1933 at 14 Elmsleigh Park in Paignton, Devon, at age 91.6

Clara Lydia Bolton TWYNAM was born in Portsmouth, Hampshire, on 1 November 1813.1,2

Clara applied for a marriage licence to wed William Smyth FORSAITH at London, Middlesex, on 23 October 1837.3

She married William Smyth FORSAITH, son of Robert FORSAITH and Mary SMYTH, at St Anne's, Limehouse in Stepney, London, Middlesex, on 4 November 1837.1,4,5,6

She was listed in the 1841 census at 190 Shoreditch in St Leonards Shoreditch, Middlesex, with her husband William; he was a clerk. Their children Clara and Ada were listed with them.7

She was listed in the 1851 census at 186 High St in St Leonards Shoreditch, London, Middlesex, with her husband William; he was a banker. Their children William, Alfred, Ellen and Mary were listed as living with them.8

Clara was named executrix and beneficiary in the will of William Smyth FORSAITH, her husband, dated 27 June 1853 in Cornwall; she was to inherit the bulk of his estate.9

She was widowed at age 39 on the death of her husband William on 18 July 1853.1,10,11,12

She was listed in the 1881 census as Head of Family at 23 Basset St in Camborne, Cornwall; she was living on 'interest of money'.2

Clara died on 30 June 1886 at 61 Belmont Drive in Liverpool, West Derby, Lancashire, at age 72.1,15,16

Her will was probated in Liverpool, Lancashire, on 29 December 1886 with Alfred John FORSAITH and Hugh Phillips VIVIAN appointed executors although appointment of Hugh VIVIAN did not occur until 28 Feb 1887. Effects were valued at £113/10/11.16
