She married Francis Baldwin (Frank) MACDONALD, son of Thomas Morell MACDONALD and Charlotte Clements FORSAITH, in New Zealand in 1906. It is believed there was no issue from this marrriage; it is also unclear how they met and whether the HOPE family had migrated to New Zealand from Tasmania.3,4

She was widowed on the death of her husband Francis on 28 August 1915.5,6

Elsie's second marriage was to Albert Edwin JEFFREY on 28 June 1919 at Cairns Memorial Manse, Powlett St in East Melbourne, Victoria.7

She signed a will dated 2 May 1922, appointing her husband executor and sole beneficiary.8

Elsie died on 16 January 1925 in Brunswick East, Melbourne, Victoria.8,9 She was buried on 19 January 1925 at the Fawkner Crematorium & Memorial Park.10
