Emilie died on 5 August 1925 in Bromley, London, at age 55.1,6

Raymond Norman BOURNON1

Raymond Norman BOURNON was born on 24 June 1913 in Fulham, London, Middlesex.1,2

He was listed in the 1939 Register at 'Holmewood', Pondhead Lane in Wokingham, Berkshire; he was an aircraft stressman, also an ARP Warden and was living with his widowed mother Olive.2

Ray worked for Phillips & Powis Aircraft Co, which had been founded by Charles Powis and Jack Phillips. They were later joined by Frederick Miles (as designer) and his wife Blossom and the company became Miles Aircraft in 1943 before its failure in 1948, when taken over by Handley-Page. During his time with Miles, Ray was credited with being designer of the Miles M.28 Mercury (1941) (produced by Ray as a private venture) and the M.35 & M.39B Libellula (1942-3).3

Raymond's marriage to Mary Minnitt LUCAS was registered between January 1941 and March 1941 in Wokingham, Berkshire.4

He was widowed at age 31 on the death of his wife Mary on 17 August 1944.5,6

Raymond's marriage to Jean Macgregor FERGUSSON, daughter of Alexander Macgregor FERGUSSON and Elizabeth HULTON, was registered between July 1945 and September 1945 in Reading, Berkshire.7

He was appointed administrator of Mary Minnitt LUCAS's estate in Oxford on 17 March 1948.6

Raymond left London on 14 July 1949 on board the Otranto, bound for Australia with his wife Jean Macgregor FERGUSSON. The four children with them were listed under the name of BOURNON, although Brian and Elizabeth were born as BURGESS.8

Raymond died on 25 February 1976 in Frankston, Victoria, at age 62.9,10,11,12 He was buried at the Mornington Cemetery, 40 Craigie Rd, Mt Martha.

His will was probated in Melbourne, Victoria, on 16 September 1976 of an estate valued at $62454.07 (being real estate of $47,500, remainder personal effects). His widow Jean signed consent to letters of Administration (2 Aug 1976) in favour of their only son, who swore on 29 Jul 1976 (re-sworn 16 Sep 1976) that Raymond had died intestate, that Jean was the deceased's widow, and that he and his sister were the only adult next of kin.11
