Her birthdate is unclear - she was supposedly 43 in the 1891 census, but 55 in 1901, then 70 at her death in 1924 This gives a birth year range of 1846 to 1854, but no birth record has been found, although her death record gives parents as Thomas Crossley and Margaret Lawrence.¹

She married Thomas Furrie in Scotland.¹

She was listed in the 1891 census at 156 Mathison St in Hutchesontown, Lanarkshire, with her husband Thomas; he was a joiner. Their child Thomas was listed as living with them, along with his siblings Charles (18, also a joiner), Donald (16, machine maker) and Margaret (11). An older brother John appears to have moved out.¹

She was listed in the 1901 census at 360 London Rd in Bridgeton, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, with her husband Thomas; he was now a packing box maker.²

Margaret died on 21 January 1924 at 133 Balmoral Rd in Glasgow, Lanarkshire, of senility. The informant was her son Charles.³

Eva left London on 27 April 1922, on board the 'Beltana', bound for Melbourne. Her occupation was given as 'corset-maker.²'

She married Ronald Gillies Ferguson, son of Alexander McGregor Ferguson and Helen Chalmers Rodger, at St Mary's Church in Nth Melbourne, Victoria, on 30 April 1927.⁶

She was widowed at age 42 on the death of her husband Ronald on 2 May 1945.⁷

She returned to the UK on the P&O ship Strathmore, arriving in Tilbury in June 1952, on her way to 16 Oundle Rd, Peterborough.⁸
