Sarah Ann Holman was born in Isle of Wight, Hampshire, on 10 February 1851.1,2 She was baptised at Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in Newport, Isle of Wight, Hampshire, on 8 July 1856 at the same time as her siblings Caroline, Walter and George.2

Sarah's marriage to William Augustus Wicks, son of William Poulter Wicks and Sarah Elizabeth Buckingham, was registered between January 1881 and March 1881 in Portsea, Hampshire. Despite William's use of the name Weston, he reverted to Wicks for his marriage.3
She was listed in the 1881 census at 21 Kingston Cres in Portsea Island, Hampshire, in the household of her parents James (a retired outfitter) and Caroline. Her brothers James and William were also present.4
