William Edward Hasler1

(1865 - 1952)
William Edward Hasler was born in Bethnal Green, London, Middlesex, on 14 January 1865.2,3

He married Florence Susannah Jackson at St Anne's Church, Hoxton in Shoreditch, London, on 4 October 1908. She used her married name of Colclough and claimed to be a widow; he gave his occupation as 'Dealer'. This marriage was almost certainly bigamous, as there is no evidence of a divorce from her first husband, who lived on until 1946. It is also notable that Percy Carney, father of four of her children, signed the register at this wedding!1

He was listed in the 1921 census as Head of Family at 7 Reeves Place in Shoreditch, London, Middlesex; he was a street-seller. His daughter Minnie was listed as living with him.4

He was listed in the 1939 Register at Bookham St in Hackney, London, Middlesex, along with Alfred H Offwood and Minnie Lilian May Hasler; he was listed as widowed and blind.5

William's death was registered between April 1952 and June 1952 in Romford, Essex.6
