Arthur Daniel Evans was born in Aldershot, Hampshire, on 22 April 1921.1,2
He was listed in the 1921 census at Waterloo Barracks West in Aldershot, Hampshire, on the return of persons other than Officers.3
He arrived back into Liverpool on the Circassia on 31 December 1950, having joined the ship in Karachi. He gave his address as c/o the Foreign Office, occupation 'Foreign Service' and had been living in Afghanistan.4
He left London on the Ranchi on 19 September 1951, bound for Melbourne and declared his occupation to be 'Army Recruit', as did five of his fellow passengers.5
He married Elizabeth Catherine Gifford Burgess, daughter of Stanley Richard Hailstone Gifford Burgess and Jean Macgregor Fergusson, in Australia. He was awarded the British Empire Medal (Military) for services to the Australian Army Signal Corps in the 1961 New Year Honours List, while still a Sergeant.6
He served from 26 April 1967 to 11 January 1968 in Vietnam with 104 Signal Squadron of the Royal Australian Corps of Signals as Warrant Office 1st Class.7
Arthur died on 20 August 2002 in Melbourne, Victoria, at age 81.8,9 He was cremated at the Bunurong Memorial Park in Melbourne on 28 August 2002.2
