He married Maria Buckingham, daughter of Richard Buckingham and Patience Higgs, at St Saviour in Southwark, Surrey, on 28 August 1844.1,2,3

He was listed in the 1851 census as Head of Family at Queen Sq in Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, with his wife Maria; he was a draper.4

He was appointed executor of Richard Buckingham's estate in London on 11 March 1858.5

He was listed in the 1861 census as Head of Family at 20 Queen Sq in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire, with his wife Maria; he was a draper. Their child Aubrey was listed as living with them, as was Maria's mother Patience Higgs and their nephew Sidney Buckingham Wicks.1

He was widowed on the death of his wife Maria between October 1867 and December 1867.6

Purton died on 24 June 1868 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.7,8

His will was probated in Oxford on 31 July 1868 wih effects of under £6000.8
