Herbert Morell Macdonald was born in New Zealand on 24 October 1897.¹

He enlisted in the NZ Army (Private, serial # 8/2978) and embarked for Egypt on the 9 Oct 1915 as part of the 7th Reinforcements, Otago Infantry Battalion.²

He married Anne Gilroy McNair at 'The Mount' (bride's residence) in Derrinallum, Victoria, on 30 July 1930.³

Herbert died on 29 December 1961 in Pura Pura, Victoria, at age 64.^4,5 He was buried at the Camperdown Cemetery in Camperdown.⁴

Hilda Heath Macdonald was born in Invercargill, Southland, on 6 January 1909.¹

Hilda died on 28 July 1929 in Invercargill, Southland, at age 20.² She was buried on 31 July 1929 at the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery in Invercargill.³

Hugh Beverley Macdonald was born in Invercargill, Southland, on 13 October 1907.¹

He married Marna Varcoe Service in Westminster, London, on 15 May 1937.²

He and his wife Marna left Southampton on 7 May 1940 on the Pennland for New York, presumably the first leg of their journey to Australia.³

Hugh died on 14 June 1967 at Fulham Hospital in Hammersnith, London, Middlesex, at age 59.⁴

His will was probated in London on 21 August 1967 with Marna Varcoe Service appointed administrator of an estate of £3313.

He was listed in the 1939 Register at Winchet Hall in Cranbrook, Kent; he was living with a large group of unrelated people and was single, working as a farmer.³

He married Margaret Helen Frances Walton in Brenchley, Kent, on 8 June 1944.^1,4

Ian's second marriage was to Eirene Alison Hepburn Whyte on 2 October 1971 in Uckfield, Sussex.^5,6

Ian's death was registered between October 2014 and December 2014 in Cambridgeshire.⁷

Isabel Maud Eliza (Isa) Macdonald was born in Invercargill, Southland, on 8 July 1877.^1,2

Isabel died on 28 April 1921 in Oamaru, Otago, at age 43. Family oral history records her death as suicide by drowning, reputedly as her older sister May had stolen her boy-friend Bill (William Quinn).^3,4 She was buried on 30 April 1921 at the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery in Invercargill.⁵

Isabella Macdonald was born in Saltcoats, Ayrshire, circa 1877. She was the daughter of Angus Macdonald (seaman) and Isabella McNeil.^1,2

She married Ewen Ferguson, son of Alexander Fergusson and Elizabeth Stewart, at 95 Kenfield St in Blythswood, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, on 23 November 1899. He gave his occupation as cattle-dealer.³

She was listed in the 1921 census at 24a Glebe St in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, with her husband Ewen; he was a market keeper for Binnce Ltd, auctioneers. Their children Ewen, Isabella, Elizabeth and Maggie were listed as living with them.²

She was widowed on the death of her husband Ewen on 2 June 1951.⁴

Isabella died on 8 March 1959 at Melbourne House in Whiting Bay, Kilbride, Bute, of cardio-vascular degeneration.⁵

Janice Nellie Macdonald was born in Paeroa on 6 November 1935.¹

Janice died on 6 September 1937 in Auckland at age 1 of pneumonia during treatment of congenital hip displacement.^1,2

Kenneth Hugh Macdonald was born in Auckland on 25 November 1916.¹

During WW2 he rose to be Lt-Colonel (#60379) of the 24th Infantry Battalion NZEF, and was 2IC from 25 Feb to 12 May 1945, then Commanding Officer until 5 Jul 1945. He was wounded on the 26 Mar 1943, and was also awarded the Military Cross.²

He married Margaret Frances Whittome in New Zealand on 29 September 1945.³

Kenneth died on 2 March 1998 in Wellington at age 81.^4,5 He was cremated at the Karori Crematorium on 6 March 1998.⁵

Madge Hazel Macdonald was born at 'Warwick', 28 Canonbury Grove, Dulwich Hill in Marrickville, Sydney, New South Wales, on 1 December 1898.¹

She married William Buchanan, son of John Buchanan and Elizabeth Simpkin, at "Enmore" in Kaihere on 18 December 1923.^2,3,4

Madge died on 28 February 1966 in Mangatarata at age 67.^2,5
