He was listed as the grandson of Jethro Walters in the 1861 Census in Upwey, Dorset, and was a mason's labourer.5

He enlisted in the Royal Navy, as a Boy 2nd class (height 5' 2 1/2", hair red, eyes grey) assigned to HMS Colossus on 27 April 1861 at Portsmouth, Hampshire. He volunteered for 10 yrs continuous service on the 17 April 1864.3
He was listed as the nephew of William Corbin in the 1871 Census at East Borough in Wimborne, Dorset, and was described as a seaman; a second entry in the Royal Navy census states he was an AB who was yet to join HMS Cambridge, and both of these entries fit with his marriage record.6

He married Jessie Dunstan, daughter of John Dunstan and Jane Rickard Nanscawen, at Register Office in Stoke Damerel, Devon, on 14 January 1872. George was a seaman on HMS Cambridge, and Jessie was resident at 36 Herbert St, Morice Town.1

George died on 26 July 1872 at age 26 from drowning after being swept overboard from HMS Peterel.4
