Ann Elizabeth Edwards was born in Folkestone, Kent, on 15 January 1855.2,3
She was listed as a servant in Alfred Henry Haggis's household in the 1891 Census at 367 London Rd in Croydon, Surrey, acting as house-keeper. She would shortly marry Alfred's widowed son-in-law Howard, who was also living in the household.2
Ann's marriage to Howard Barnard was registered between April 1893 and June 1893 in Hendon, Middlesex.1
She was listed in the 1921 census at 18 St Mary's Rd in Willesden, Middlesex, with her husband Howard; he was a journalist for the North-West Printing and Publishing Assoc. Ltd. The household included their niece Edith (37) and great-niece Jessie Isabel Tull (12).4
She was widowed at age 77 on the death of her husband Howard on 6 April 1932.5,6
She was appointed executrix of Howard Barnard's estate in London on 9 June 1932.6

Thomas Chute Ellis1

Thomas Chute Ellis was born in Port Gawler, South Australia, on 28 December 1848.2
During his youth he resided at Buckland Park, on the old Port Gawler station, at that time the property of his father. He was educated at St. Peter's Collegiate School, Adelaide, and finished his education at the Charterhouse and Henley Royal Grammar Schools, in London.
In 1869 he returned to Australia and took charge of his father's estates in South Australia and New Zealand, making Benara Station his headquarters and home.
In Aug 1883 he presented the Mount Gambler Town Council with a clock for the Town Hall tower, then in course of erection.
During his 51 years' residence at Benara he bred up a high-class flock of Corriedale sheep, the largest in Australasia.
He was married three times, first to Miss M. V. Barrow, Portland, sister of Mrs. A. P. Laurie; second to Miss Agnes Williams, daughter of the late Mr. T. Williams, of Moorak; and third to Miss Florence R. Ayton, of Tasmania. By his second marriage he had three sons - Messrs. Thomas Chute, William N. Chute, and John Chute, and by his last marriage a son, Mr. Harold Chute, and a daughter, Miss E. C. Ellis.
His third son (Dr. J. C. Ellis) was killed while serving as a Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery in Belgium, in June 1917.3
Thomas's third marriage was to Florence Rose Ayton, daughter of William Pooley Ayton and Susan Ann Connor, on 29 March 1893 in Tasmania.4
