Mollie Winifred Moodie was born in Dunedin, Otago, on 29 November 1914.¹

She married Clarence Selwyn Wilton in Warrington on 26 November 1946.²

She was widowed on the death of her husband Clarence in 1999.³

Mollie died in 2004 in New Zealand.⁴

Sheila Kathleen Moodie was born in New Zealand in 1918.¹

Thomas Moodie was born in Arbroath, Angus, on 8 May 1836.¹ and was baptised on 4 August 1836 in Arbroath.¹
The siblings Janet, Thomas, Mary and Margaret were listed in the 1841 census at Springfield in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, with their parents, George Moodie and Janet Hutton.²

He was educated at the Campbelltown Grammar School, Argyle, and in Glasgow before becoming a shipping clerk for seven years with the ship-owning firm of James and William STEWART in Greenock.
He migrated to New Zealand on the Jura, which left on 1 June 1858 and arrived in Port Chalmers on the 23 September with 375 passengers.

Although engaged to James Macandrew and Co, he joined Fred. Greer and Co, who established a steamer service to Melbourne with Macandrews. In 1863 he entered serive with Dalgety and Co, then founded Connell and Moodie with Mr K. A. CONNELL, which eventually merged with which merged with Gillies, Street & Hislop to form the Perpetual Trustees Estate and Agency Company, of which he became a director.

He was a mason, attached to Celtic Lodge #479, where he occupied the senior warden's chair, and took a keen interest in bowling, where he was Hon. Treasurer for the Dunedin Bowling Club and the NZ Bowling Association.^4,5,6

He married Helen Inglis Brown at Jas. Brown house, Spring Bank in Dunedin, Otago, on 26 August 1863.^7,8,9

He was named as a beneficiary of the will of George Moodie, his father, dated 5 September 1866 in Ayrshire; on the death of his mother and the death or marriage of his two executor siblings he was to inherit an equal share of the remaining estate.¹⁰

He was widowed at age 70 on the death of his wife Helen on 7 April 1907.^11,12

Thomas died on 10 June 1934 in Dunedin, Otago, at age 98.^13,11,14 He was buried on 12 June 1934 at the Northern Cemetery.^13,15

Thomas Moodie was born in Ohio circa 1844.¹
The siblings Euphemia, Mary, Jeannie, Thomas, Frances and Margaret were listed in the 1850 US census in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio, in the household of their parents, Thomas Moodie and Jane Ashwell.¹

Thomas died on 27 February 1856 in Ohio.² He was buried at the Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus.²

Thomas Moodie was born in Alloa, Clackmannanshire, on 29 July 1837. His mother's name is shown as Amelia in the birth register, although she seems to have used Emilia and other variations.^1,2

He may have arrived in New Zealand as 2nd officer on the Gala, possibly around 1860.

He married Jean Dalziel at Knox Church in Dunedin, Otago, on 4 September 1863.^3,4,5

Thomas died on 1 August 1867 at Ninety Mile Beach in New Zealand at age 30 in the wreck of the Vixen.⁶

Thomas Moodie was born in Scotland circa 1815.

He studied law at Edinburgh University (1832-3) before emigrating to the US in 1836, settling first in Adams County, where he sent back to Scotland for his fiancee to join him.¹

He married Jane Ashwell, daughter of Thomas Ashwell and Euphemia Abernethy, in West Union, Ohio, on 6 November 1838. After the marriage they moved briefly to Cincinnati before settling in Columbus, Ohio in 1840.¹ He appeared on the 1840 US Census in Franklin, Ohio, under the name of Moody. The entry appears to be him, engaged in commerce, plus his wife, and two others, possibly a servant and his first daughter. Although she was born in August, the census actualy took place over several months, rather than the 'nominal' date of 1 June.²

At the Ohio state legislative session of 1837-8, the Mechanics' Savings Institute, a bank of deposit, was incorporated and soon after went into operation in Columbus. Wm. B. HUBBARD was President, and for a time Warren JENKINS was Cashier, then Thomas MOODIE. It continued till about the time the City Bank commenced business, when the former was discontinued, or merged into the latter.
The City Bank of Columbus went into operation under the law which authorised independent banks, secured by the deposit of State stock with the Treasurer of State. This bank was located in the same building as the Columbus Insurance Company, and to a great extent the stockholders in one of these institutions were also in the other. Thomas was Cashier during the whole existence of the Institution.
Finally the bank and Insurance Company both failed; the Insurance Company in 1851, and in November 1854 the bank closed its doors. The public lost nothing by the notes, they being secured, but it was ruinous to the holders of stock.
It is not known how much of the MOODIE family fortunes were involved in this banking collapse.³

He was listed in the 1850 US census in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio, with his wife Jane; he gave his occupation as 'banker' and their house was valued at $7000. Their children Euphemia, Mary, Jeannie, Thomas, Frances and Margaret were listed as living with them, as were two servants and Jane's parents Thomas Ashwell and Euphemia Abernethy.⁴

He was listed in the 1860 US census in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio, with his wife Jane; his occupation and the value of the house were not recorded, but a male clerk and female servant were living with the family, as were Isabella Moodie and Gordon Moodie (Thomas's niece and nephew respectively). Their children Euphemia, Jeannie, Frances and Florence were listed as living with them.⁵

Thomas died on 1 July 1864 in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio.⁶ He was buried at the Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus.⁶

Thomas Arnold Moodie was born in Dunedin, Otago, in 1877.¹

He was manager of Dalgety's, Napier.

He married Mary Caldwell Donaldson in New Zealand in 1907.^2,3

Thomas died on 13 February 1943 in Wellington.^4,5 He was cremated at the Karori Crematorium on 15 February 1943.⁵

Vera died on 14 November 1975 in Hastings, Hawkes Bay, at age 90.⁵ Her ashes were buried on 1 December 1975 at Northern Cemetery.⁶

John Moody was also known as John Mudie. He was born in Newburn, Fife, circa January 1811. and was baptised on 27 January 1811 in Newburn.^1,2

He married Amelia Christie in Dundee, Angus, on 4 November 1836.³

He was recorded as a carpenter at time of his marriage (1836) and there has been some suggestion that he was a ship's Captain,who died off Land's End, possibly being buried at sea. However there is no supporting evidence, so he may possibly have served as a ship's carpenter.
