He successfully took over and managed his father's bacon-curing business and was a director of J. M. Brown & Co. He was much travelled, author of 'Wisteria & Jade' and was prominent in musical circles, including the First Church and Invercargill Male Choirs.³

He married Elizabeth Selina May Macdonald, daughter of Thomas Morell Macdonald and Charlotte Clements Forsaith, in New Zealand in 1906. There were no children from this marriage.^4,5

William died on 9 November 1925 in Invercargill, Southland, at age 54.⁶ He was buried on 10 November 1925 at the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery in Invercargill.⁷

Eliza S Rabone was born in Hobart, Tasmania, on 21 November 1835.²

She was listed in the 1901 census at House 10 in Drumkeen part of Newporton, Co. Fermanagh, with her husband George; he was a tea merchant. Their child Johanna was listed as living with them.³

She was listed in the 1911 census at House 11 in Ballinamallard part of Newporton, Co. Fermanagh, with her husband George; he was a tea and egg dealer. Their children Johanna, Winifred, Ernest, Cathlene, Ellen and Francis were listed as living with them.¹

Dulcie Edith Rait was born on 23 April 1927.²
