He served in the Royal Navy, having signed on for 12 years on 9 Jul 1946, but transferred to the Royal Australian Navy in Nov 1949, where he served until Dec 1961.1
He left Tilbury docks on 17 November 1949 on the Port Hobart for Australia, previous address given as HMS Vernon, occupation 'naval rating.4'
Richard died on 4 October 2017 in Gold Coast, Queensland, at age 86.5

She was widowed at age 75 on the death of her husband Peter on 24 October 1895.1,5
