Margaret Coombs1
(1868 - 1932)
Margaret Coombs was born in Bantry Bay, Co. Cork, in 1868.2
It is possible that Margaret's maiden name was Donovan and that she married Charles Thomas Coombs (b.1859 in Burton Cres, London to Henry and Maria Lydia Coombs) in the 1st Qtr of 1884. These names appear in the 1891 census, where he is publican at the 'Dog & Duck' in Rotherhithe with four children (Mary Amelia Lydia b.1885, Charles Henry b.1886, Daniel David b.1888, Winifred Norah b.1890), whose mother's maiden name is Donovan. This would imply that Margaret left her husband and children to take up with Leonard Bertram Beaumont around 1900, for which there is no sign of a marriage. In the 1901 census the Coombs children are in various Homes or employed (implying a breakup of the family) and Charles claims to be single, working as a barman.
She was listed in the 1921 census at 16 Grove Rd in Mile End, London, Middlesex, with her husband Bertram; he was a builder. Their child Leonard was listed as living with them.2
Margaret's marriage to Bertram Beaumont was registered between April 1930 and June 1930 in Poplar, London, Middlesex.1
Margaret's death was registered between July 1932 and September 1932 in Poplar, London, Middlesex.3
