Mary Smyth Forsaith was born in London, Middlesex, on 21 July 1816.^1,2 and was baptised on 18 August 1816 at Kings Weight House, Fish St Hill (Independent).^2,3

She was named as a beneficiary of the will of Robert Forsaith, her father, dated 5 September 1817 at Wades Place, Mile End Row in Middlesex.⁴

She was named as a beneficiary of the will of Elizabeth Forsaith, her great-aunt, dated 1 June 1824 in New Sleaford, Lincolnshire; as her father Robert had pre-deceased, his share of the estate was to be divided equally amongst his children.⁵

She was named as a beneficiary of the will of Mary Smyth, her mother, dated 23 February 1841 at 3 White Horse Lane, Stepney in London, Middlesex; she was to receive 1/4 of the monies of the estate (shared with her siblings) and half of her mother's household goods, furniture, plate, linen, china, wearing apparel, books, pictures and residue of her personal estate.⁶
