Elizabeth Roberts1

(c 1815 - 1912)
Elizabeth Roberts was born in Kenwyn, Cornwall, circa 1815. This date is based on her age at death (97), but she claimed to be only 29 in the 1851 census, implying a birth year of 1822 - this is extremely suspect.2

She married James Chynoweth Paul in Kenwyn, Cornwall, on 7 October 1839.3,4

She was listed in the 1851 census at Frog St in Bere Ferrers, Devon, with her husband James; he was a miner. Their children Ann, James, Grace and Joseph were listed as living with them.2

Elizabeth arrived at Auckland, on 8 August 1856, on board the Lord Burleigh (622 tons) ex-London accompanied by her husband James Chynoweth Paul and children Ann, James Robert, Grace, Joseph, Elizabeth Jane and Emma (Emmeline).5

She was widowed on the death of her husband James on 27 July 1895.6,7,8

Elizabeth died on 22 December 1912 at Victoria Ave in Mt Eden, Auckland.9,7,10 She was buried in December 1912 at the Symonds St Cemetery in Grafton.7
