Ian Gordon Macdonald was born in Kuala Lumpur on 13 May 1915.¹

He arrived in Southampton on 27 February 1938 having left from Singapore, travelling 2nd Class on the Baloeran. He claimed his last permanent residence was England and gave his address as c/o Lloyds Bank, Ashford, Kent.²

He was listed in the 1939 Register at Winchet Hall in Cranbrook, Kent; he was living with a large group of unrelated people and was single, working as a farmer.³

He married Margaret Helen Frances Walton in Brenchley, Kent, on 8 June 1944.^1,4

Ian's second marriage was to Eirene Alison Hepburn Whyte on 2 October 1971 in Uckfield, Sussex.^5,6

Ian's death was registered between October 2014 and December 2014 in Cambridgeshire.⁷

Isabel Maud Eliza (Isa) Macdonald was born in Invercargill, Southland, on 8 July 1877.^1,2

Isabel died on 28 April 1921 in Oamaru, Otago, at age 43. Family oral history records her death as suicide by drowning, reputedly as her older sister May had stolen her boy-friend Bill (William Quinn).^3,4 She was buried on 30 April 1921 at the Invercargill Eastern Cemetery in Invercargill.⁵

Isabella Macdonald was born in Saltcoats, Ayrshire, circa 1877. She was the daughter of Angus Macdonald (seaman) and Isabella McNeil.^1,2

She married Ewen Ferguson, son of Alexander Fergusson and Elizabeth Stewart, at 95 Kenfield St in Blythswood, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, on 23 November 1899. He gave his occupation as cattle-dealer.³

She was listed in the 1921 census at 24a Glebe St in Falkirk, Stirlingshire, with her husband Ewen; he was a market keeper for Binnce Ltd, auctioneers. Their children Ewen, Isabella, Elizabeth and Maggie were listed as living with them.²

She was widowed on the death of her husband Ewen on 2 June 1951.⁴

Isabella died on 8 March 1959 at Melbourne House in Whiting Bay, Kilbride, Bute, of cardio-vascular degeneration.⁵

Janice Nellie Macdonald was born in Paeroa on 6 November 1935.¹

Janice died on 6 September 1937 in Auckland at age 1 of pneumonia during treatment of congenital hip displacement.^1,2

Kenneth Hugh Macdonald was born in Auckland on 25 November 1916.¹

During WW2 he rose to be Lt-Colonel (#60379) of the 24th Infantry Battalion NZEF, and was 2IC from 25 Feb to 12 May 1945, then Commanding Officer until 5 Jul 1945. He was wounded on the 26 Mar 1943, and was also awarded the Military Cross.²

He married Margaret Frances Whittome in New Zealand on 29 September 1945.³

Kenneth died on 2 March 1998 in Wellington at age 81.^4,5 He was cremated at the Karori Crematorium on 6 March 1998.⁵

Madge Hazel Macdonald was born at 'Warwick', 28 Canonbury Grove, Dulwich Hill in Marrickville, Sydney, New South Wales, on 1 December 1898.¹

She married William Buchanan, son of John Buchanan and Elizabeth Simpkin, at "Enmore" in Kaihere on 18 December 1923.^2,3,4

Madge died on 28 February 1966 in Mangatarata at age 67.^2,5

Margaret Mamie (Peg) Macdonald was born in Victoria on 15 November 1935.

Margaret died on 16 April 1999 in Victoria at age 63.¹ She was buried at the Camperdown Cemetery in Camperdown.¹

Margaret Stuart (Gretta) Macdonald was born in New Zealand on 20 March 1927.¹

She married Fergus Robert Paris (Bob) Osborne in New Zealand on 30 March 1957.

She and her husband Fergus left Auckland on the Mariposa on 7 Oct 1958, bound for San Francisco, via Suva. They eventually arrived in Plymouth on 11 Nov 1958, having crossed the Atlantic on the Liberte. He gave his occupation as 'advertising executive' for the Shell Petroleum Co.^2,3

By 1968 the couple were back in Australia, living in Lane Cove, but returned to New Zealand by 1972, where they established an art dealership in Auckland, before retiring to Dunedin by 1978.^4,5

She was widowed at age 54 on the death of her husband Fergus on 9 March 1982.^6,7

Margaret died in 2000 in New Zealand.⁸

Mary Clements Kay Macdonald was born in Invercargill, Southland, on 27 August 1895.¹

She married Gerard Henry Nicholls on 28 December 1932.²

She was always known as Kay and became a hospital matron, but suffered from Alzheimer's in late life.

She was widowed at age 79 on the death of her husband Gerard on 11 March 1975.³

Mary died on 13 July 1975 in Te Aroha at age 79.⁴

Morris Morell Macdonald was born in Invercargill, Southland, on 28 June 1903.¹ He was also known in the family as Pooh, as all the family carried nicknames from the Winnie-the-Pooh books. The names were started by Morris's sister Berys, who, on seeing him well-dressed for a motor-bike ride, likened him to the rotund Pooh. As she was wearing a striped sweater at the time, she instantly became Tigger.²

He was educated at Southland Boys' High School, John McGlashan College and graduated LL.B. from Otago University. After graduation he joined his father in the family practice, the last Macdonald to serve in that capacity. His special interest was in estate administration and he was also president of the Southland District Law Society in 1938-9.

A keen motor-cyclist, and secretary of the Southland Motor Cycle Club in the mid-1920s, he was elected to represent motor-cycle interests within the AA (Southland) branch in 1928, and rose to be president of the association from 1939 to 1942, becoming a life member in 1974.

He continued a long family connection with the First Presbyterian Church, including being treasurer of the deacon's court for nearly 20 years.³

He married Ivall Moira (Mollie) Hansen, daughter of David Ernest Hansen CMG and Ethel May Hampson, at St Marks Church in Opawa, Christchurch, Canterbury, on 20 October 1934.^4,5

There being no further family members to continue the firm under the Macdonald name, he practised in partnership with Mr B. R. Bayley under the name of Macdonald and Bayley until his death.³

Morris died on 19 November 1980 at Mater Hospital in Dunedin, Otago, at age 77.^3,6,7 He was cremated on 20 November 1980.⁸ His ashes were buried on 24 November 1980 at Invercargill Eastern Cemetery in Invercargill.⁹
