Donald died on 22 December 1992 at Otago Community Hospice, George St in Dunedin, Otago, at age 71.3,4 His ashes were buried on 24 December 1992 at West Taieri Cemetery.5 He was cremated at the Dunedin Crematorium, Anderson's Bay on 24 December 1992.3
