She was widowed at age 72 on the death of her husband James on 5 June 1942.5,6

She was appointed executrix of James McKechie's estate in Westport on 11 February 1943, with John Henry EVANS (billiard saloon proprietor) and Allan Andrew Grainger KERR (blacksmith) standing surety for a bond of £500.6

Isabella died on 22 August 1957 in Granity, Westland, at age 87.7,8 She was buried on 25 August 1957 at the Orowaiti Cemetery, Utopia Rd in Westport.9
